About Trivium

TRIVIUM A Multi Disciplinary Journal of Humanities of Chandernagore College is a leading journal in humanities and social sciences, publishing highly original, rigorously researched essays. Published for Chandernagore College, Trivium is peer-reviewed and extremely selective. The essays in our published pages span multiple disciplines in humanities and social sciences with an emphasis on literary and cultural practice. Being a bilingual journal its scope is extended to Bengali literature and socio-critical expressions in Bengali. Chandernagore being historically a confluence of Bengali, English, French and European cultures the mission of the journal is to provide a reflection of these different strands of influences through symbiotic interweaving of thought and expression, whether historicist, theoretical, psychoanalytic or art-historical. Taking its cue from the Renaissance disciplines of the ‘trivium’ (logic, rhetoric and grammar), the journal aims to provide a foundational mooring into the cultural richness, heritage and investigations, which will bind together different disciplines towards a scholarly ethos. The published journal is available in print and online. Some of the areas so far covered are literature in English from pre-and-post Independence India, Children’s Literature in English and Bengali, American Literature, Early Modern English and French Literature, and Women’s History. We also include the social sciences to maintain the multi-disciplinary nature of the journal though the primary focus is on literature and the humanities. Essays on commerce and management are also accepted. The journal follows a rigorous double-blind peer review and the editor retains the right to reject any essay without providing reasons for it. However, the opinion of peer-reviewers is given primacy in this matter. Plagiarism in any form is strictly dealt with and submissions from such authors are not accepted in the future. For call for papers, author’s guidelines, ethics policy and editorial board please look at the dedicated headings in the website.
